DI Chpt. 8-10 'Learning Profile Differentiations'

In reading these chapters, I found myself especially interested in reading about the guidelines for learning profile differentiation. Every learner has his or her individual learning preferences just as we have our own way of taking in new information as we learn as educators. It is essential for our classrooms and our teaching styles to provide opportunities for all learning profiles to succeed. Some teachers I have seen during my placements are so stuck in their way of teaching something that they never stop to think about how the students in their class might learn it differently from a class the year before. A lot of the time teachers are worried about trying new things in their classroooms and learning different ways to teach. However, if you are reteaching in the same way over and over again, and it just isn't working for the students' comprehension, wouldn't it be easier to try something new based off of how you see the students learning? Some teachers also give assignments where they have to do one thing a certain way. It makes it a lot easier to give the students options. What options, as teachers, do we begin giving though? Well, that comes from careful observation of learning cues from your students. If you are watching your students and you see that a student works better with learning through a song, allow him or her to do some learning through music and maybe even challenge them to see if they can create a song to teach a class something. This way the whole class is benefiting from seeing a way in which one student really learns best.
