Differentiating products is a great way to bring creativity into the classroom. It allows students to show sides of their personalities that a paper and pencil test could never do. It is a great way to assess and evaluate if the students really got what you were teaching them. I also love the idea of having differentiated products because it brings in the students interests as well. The chapter stated it well with the quote, “[products are the element of the curriculum students can most directly own.” Allowing students to have a since of ownership in the aspect of their learning will only increase their ability to learn the information. I also liked the suggestion of having exhibits, sharing groups of four instead of having everyone share their projects with the whole class. I feel this creates a fun environment where students don’t have to listen to every single student present their projects. Overall, having the students create products challenges the students and allows them to do something other than take a hand written assessment. It is a great form of differentiation due to the can pick a project based on their interests and their strengths and weaknesses.
