Interdisciplinary Integration

Interdisciplinary teaching is defined as a method, or set of methods, used to teach a unit across different curricular disciplines.

This unit ends up being a thematic unit, sound familiar? In the process of using interdisciplinary integration, teachers of different content areas work together towards a common theme.

This theme, for example, could be weather. In the theme of weather, language arts teachers could help students learn vocabulary associated with weather, and create a paper. Social studies teachers teachers could teach students about weather patterns in different areas of the world, science teachers could explain how clouds are formed, having students create models etc.
